News of Borealis' Canoe Reach Energy project drilling permit has become a hot topic in the news lately. JWN, a popular energy news publisher, reported on the story, previously published by BIV, in their article entitled "B.C. issues first-ever permit for geothermal energy project." The article brings up the great deal of support that Borealis has received for the project, stating that "The pilot project has enjoyed unanimous support by the NDP, Liberals and Greens."
Borealis GeoPower is headquartered in Moh’kins’tsis, the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) name for the place we now call Calgary, located in the Treaty 7 region and the traditional territories of the Blackfoot Confederacy (including the Siksika, Piikani and Kainai First Nations), the Tsuut’ina First Nation, and the Stoney Nakoda (including the Chiniki, Bearspaw and Wesley First Nations). The City of Calgary is also home to Métis Nation of Alberta, Region III.
