Borealis GeoPower has acquired three geothermal exploration permits for the area of Canoe Reach, British Columbia. The project is a notional ~10MWe standard hydrothermal development project and we are pleased to announce that Borealis has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with local First Nations partners.

After a recent RFP (Request for Proposal) from the Canadian Geothermal Energy Association, Borealis GeoPower won the contract to develop and present a geothermal energy workshop for communities. On June 25, 2009, the community of Terrace BC hosted the first "Geothermal 101" Workshop; Borealis Geopower's Craig Dunn presented the material on behalf of CanGEA and was well received by the 60 plus members of the local community and interested parties. Borealis will also have the opportunity to present the workshop to community leaders in Ft. Simpson, Northwest Territories on September 29th, 2009.

Geothermal energy development for electricity production has long been focused on larger scale (>20MW) development and production opportunities. Smaller scale and distributed energy generation (<10MW) from geothermal resources may offer a viable solution for many remote communities. Borealis GeoPower is proud to announce that we have been selected for the Clean Energy Fund, as part of the Government of Canada’s Economic Action Plan (Budget 2009), for ADK/Borealis Geothermal Demonstration Project for between $10-20 million in funding.
